Deconstructing Development
Webcast Brand Identity

Helping women in development and philanthropy to be successful in their lives and careers.

For this client project, the goal was to rebrand the nonprofit web series, Deconstructing Development.

Deconstructing Development began as an initiative, in response to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It covered topics in fundraising and philanthropy to help the sector pivot and navigate the uncertainties brought on by the pandemic. It was developed by Yolanda F. Johnson, during her tenure as President of Women In Development, New York (WID). At the close of her tenure and with the evolution of the web series, a new identity was needed to:

1) Support its new mission helping women in development and philanthropy to be successful in their lives and careers.
2) Exist as a standalone brand and professional resource in the nonprofit space.

Logo Animation

"Breaking it down for us to help women be successful in their lives and careers."

The name of the web series was inspired by the founder's love of alliteration.

As such, the counter of the letter "D" and the logo mark inspired the foundational graphic block elements for the identity. They are enlarged, offset or at times, flipped on its axis to reflect the notion of deconstruction.

The rest of the identity is clean to balance the dramatic graphic elements with the need for a professional finish.

Shifting perspective.
